We decided to sail across the Atlantic with the ARC rally in November 2012 so that we could revisit our former sailing grounds - the Caribbean, and explore some new ones - the Bahamas. This is the story of our Atlantic crossing in all its gory detail.
The journey taken from the UK is shown by the yellow arrows on the map .... we started our journey in the Plymouth in early September and worked our way southwards across the infamous Bay of Biscay to make landfall in Northern Spain at La Coruna. We then returned to the UK for a short while before resuming our odyssey by sailing down the west coasts of Spain and Portugal. From Lagos in Portugal, we struck out across the seas to the Canary Islands and the port of Las Palmas, the starting point for the ARC.
